The Professional Association of Freelance Medical Practitioners, ASPROMEL is a free and independent non-profit professional organization of graduates in Medicine and Surgery who are members of recognized medical colleges. It is by nature a corporate, cultural and scientific body, non-syndical in character. In line with similar organizations elsewhere in Europe, its primary objectives are to uphold the legal, academic and constitutional rights of medical professionals, jointly with the collegiate institutions that represent them; and to promote and encourage the free uptake and exercise of Medicine as an exemplary career path. These objectives are to be attained within an appropriate and responsible framework of total freedom of choice, employment, management, establishment and enterprise, in order to ensure the complete development and optimal use of the abilities, aptitudes and possibilities of medical graduates. This should lead to a better and more effective service to society - the ultimate aim of a profession that is the culmination of a long and continuing academic, scientific, intellectual and humanistic education.
